Who is eligible?
- Community organizations based in Saskatchewan.
- Incorporated for-profit companies.
- Non-profit community-based organizations.
- Professional artists who meet SK Arts’ definition and are Saskatchewan residents.
- Arts professionals who meet SK Arts’ definition and are Saskatchewan residents.
Who is not eligible
- Applicants who submit more than one application per deadline.
- Organizations that receive annual or multi-year funding from SK Arts, SaskCulture Inc., Sask Lotteries, Creative Saskatchewan or creative industry associations supported by Creative Saskatchewan, unless the proposed project expands inclusion, diversity, and equity access within existing programs and/or explores significantly new approaches for presenting, and a clear rationale is provided.
- Organizations that have no other open grants to the Artists in Communities program.
- Applicants with outstanding reports for any previous grant received from SK Arts.
- Applicants whose submission to this program is incomplete.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Additional support for existing projects or activities that have received support through any other provincial arts funding program.
- Activities that take place before the application submission deadline.
- Projects in which artists are not paid for their work.
- Fundraising activities, awards, sponsorships, competitions, or re-granting activities.
- Activities that contravene provincial or federal law, or that use or present Indigenous cultural material, traditional knowledge or stories without permission from the community or involvement of either an Elder or Knowledge Keeper.

- Quality of the activity: the activity is achievable, the budget and plan make sense, and the activity is an appropriate size for the grant program.
- Identified needs: the activity addresses the identified needs or challenges of the community and allows appropriate engagement of the community with a professional artist.
- Potential impact: the proposed activity has potential to generate more arts engagement activities in the future.
How to apply
- Applications are only accepted online.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed by SK Arts program staff and a community-engaged arts specialist.
- Recipients of Development funds must submit a final report no later than 30 days after the project end date.
- Recipients of Development funds must acknowledge the support provided by SK Arts and Sask Lotteries wherever possible and appropriate.
- Funded applicants receive a notification email with a document explaining how to recognize their funders.
