Overview
The Articipate Creation and Development Grant offers up to $5,000 in funding, plus $5,000 in in-kind support, to facilitate the exploration and development of new artistic works. Eligible activities include rehearsals, artistic creation, multimedia production, and research, taking place at the Richcraft Theatre in the Shenkman Arts Centre.
Financing terms and conditions
- Maximum funding of up to $5,000 per project.
- Additional in-kind support valued at $5,000 from the Shenkman Arts Centre (includes rentals and staffing).
- Funds are released in two installments: an initial payment upon signing Grant and Booking contracts, and a final installment issued after project completion and approval of final report.

Eligibility
- The lead applicant must be based in the Ottawa/Gatineau region, including Pikwàkanagàn and Kitigan Zibi First Nations.
- The applicant must be an incorporated, not-for-profit arts organization, a non-incorporated arts collective (group of two or more active artists), or an individual artist.
- The applicant must have a mandate to present arts programming or an independent arts practice.
- The project must take place within the Shenkman Arts Centre between September 2024 and May 2025.

- Non-arts organizations (whose primary mandate is not arts related).

- Resident Art Partners at the Shenkman Arts Centre, including their board and staff members.
Eligible expenses
- Expenses directly related to the project, as detailed in the project budget form.
- Costs associated with rehearsals and artistic development conducted at the Shenkman Arts Centre.
- Materials and supplies necessary for the creation or development of new artistic works.
- Audio, film, or multimedia production costs required for the project.
- Research expenses directly supporting the artistic practice.

- Unsuccessful applicants may request jury feedback and reapply

Sign agreements and receive funding
- For funded projects, sign Booking and Grant contracts with Shenkman Arts Centre and Arts Network Ottawa
- Finalize project and venue dates
- Receive funding in two installments (final payment upon submission and approval of final report)

Complete project and submit final report
- Complete funded project activities within determined period
- Fill out and submit mandatory Final Reporting Forms within 2 months of project completion
Additional information
- Support materials such as photos, videos, or documentation showcasing previous or proposed work must be clearly labeled and included in the application.
- Recorded (audio/video) applications are accepted; applicants are encouraged to request accessibility arrangements if needed.
- Grant recipients do not need to include insurance costs in their budget, as these are covered by Arts Network Ottawa.
- Unsuccessful applicants may request Jury feedback and resubmit revised applications at a later deadline.
