Selection criteria

How to apply
- Step 1: Request Application Form
- Email chfunds@gov.nu.ca to request the specific Archaeology and Palaeontology Research Support application form.
- Step 2: Complete Funding Proposal
- Fill out the application form provided by the department.
- Outline the research activity for which funds are being requested.
- Include a timeline for project completion.
- Attach a letter of support from your institution.
- Step 3: Submit Application
- Send the completed funding proposal and all supporting documents to the designated contact at chfunds@gov.nu.ca.
- Step 4: Review and Assessment
- Your proposal will be reviewed by a Working Group and may be assessed by the Director of Heritage if necessary.
- Step 5: Await Decision
- You will be notified of the funding decision following the review process.
- Step 6: Final Reporting
- Submit a final achievement report outlining project results and benefits within 90 days of project completion or the end of the Government of Nunavut’s fiscal year.
Additional information
- A separate application form is required for this grant, distinct from other Culture & Heritage Initiatives.
- Individuals may only receive one award per grant cycle, with a maximum of three awards under the program.
- The Working Group meets once per year to review proposals, but expedited review by the Director of Heritage is possible when timelines require it.
- Grants are awarded once per fiscal year, with the reporting period running from April 1 to March 31.
