How to apply
- Submit the AIG application by the applicable deadline for your progression date.
- Submit supporting documents online, by mail, or in person at a Service Canada Centre.
- If submitting by mail, send the documents to the correct Processing Centre for your region.
Processing and Agreement
- The submission of supporting documents could be made online, by mail, or in person at a Service Canada Centre.
- You would not receive a decision on your file until the supporting documents were submitted.
- For previously submitted applications, the applicant could contact Apprenticeship Grants by phone for status updates, missing documents, and payment timing information.
Additional information
- The Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG) is taxable, and Quebec residents receive a Relevé 1 tax slip.
- The AIG payments are not considered employment earnings and do not affect Employment Insurance (EI) benefits.
- Under the Family Orders and Agreements Enforcement Assistance Act (FOAEAA), all or part of the grant may be redirected to a third party if family support payments are owed.
- Applications and supporting documents are no longer accepted because the AIG closed on March 31, 2025.
