Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Individuals.

Who is not eligible

  • Applicants who do not self-identify within the eligible groups.
  • Service providers with a leadership or artistic role in the project.
  • Requests submitted after the work has already started.

Eligible expenses

  • Costs for account creation support.
  • Costs for application, nomination, acceptance, and report preparation support.
  • Translation, interpretation, editing, writing, and transcription services linked to the request.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Work started before approval of the request.
  • Services outside the approved support category.
  • Costs above the stated maximum amounts.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Access the portal
    • Go to the Canada Council for the Arts portal.
    • Select Help from the top navigation bar.
  • Step 2: Complete the request form
    • Choose Application Assistance as the category.
    • Fill in the required contact details and description.
    • Attach files if applicable.
  • Step 3: Submit the request
    • Submit the online case request through the portal.
    • Alternatively, send the request by email.
  • Step 4: Wait for review
    • The Canada Council reviews the request and may ask for more information.
    • If approved, a case number is provided.
