Overview

The APCHQ — Programme pour la formation des femmes en entreprise provides employers in Québec’s construction industry with funding equal to 30% of the participating woman’s salary, up to a maximum of $10,000 over 52 weeks. The program aims to support the integration, training and retention of women on construction sites through an 8‑hour awareness course on integrating women into work teams, structured learning plans, and mentorship or accompaniment by companions and mentors.

Activities funded

  • Participation of female construction workers and their work teams in an 8‑hour training on integrating women into work teams and promoting gender diversity on construction sites.
  • Implementation of a structured on-the-job learning plan (Plan de formation des apprentissages) for newly hired female workers in a construction trade or occupation.
  • Mentorship and supervision activities carried out by companions or mentors to support women’s skills development in their trade or occupation.
  • Company-wide initiatives to improve integration, retention and professional progression of women within construction work teams.

Eligibility

  • Employ at least two employees, including at least one journeywoman/journeyman (compagnon) or a worker holding a valid CCQ occupation competency certificate.
  • Support the learning of the woman hired based on the official Apprenticeship Training Plan and ensure that the designated companion or mentor supervises this learning.
  • Ensure that relevant company representatives (including the companion or mentor) participate in the mandatory training "Awareness of integrating women into a work team."
  • If the company has existed for 24 months or less, it must have declared at least 1,500 hours of work to the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ) since it started operating.
  • If the company has existed for more than 24 months, it must have declared at least 4,000 hours of work to the CCQ during 24 of the last 26 months.

  • Companies in the construction industry that employ workers holding CCQ competency certificates

Eligible expenses

  • Financial support to the company equivalent to 30% of the participating woman’s salary, up to a maximum of $10,000, for a period of up to 52 weeks.
  • Costs related to the mandatory training "Sensibilisation à l'intégration des femmes au sein d'une équipe de travail" for the participating woman, her work team, the companion and/or mentor.

  • Companies operating in the province of Quebec and subject to the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ).

How to apply

  • Step 1: Contact Info-perfectionnement
    • Call the Info-perfectionnement line at 1-888-902-2222.
    • Indicate that you are interested in the “Programme pour la formation des femmes en entreprise.”
    • Speak with a CCQ training adviser to get information on how to enroll in the program and the documentation that will be provided.
  • Step 2: Contact employer or association representative
    • If you are an employee, inform your employer of your interest in participating in the program.
    • Employers can also contact their employer association or union promotion officer for support and information.
  • Step 3: Coordinate participation with CCQ training adviser
    • Work with the CCQ training adviser to understand the program modalities and the tools for implementing the Training Plan for Apprenticeships (Plan de formation des apprentissages).
    • Obtain the relevant documentation and examples of training plans and reference documents for the trade or occupation concerned.
  • Step 4: Enroll in the required training session
    • Arrange, with the CCQ adviser and employer, participation of the woman, the companion and/or mentor, and the company representative in the training "Sensibilisation à l'intégration des femmes au sein d'une équipe de travail" (8-hour session).
    • Confirm dates, registration, and logistics for attending this training.
  • Step 5: Formalize participation and set up the Training Plan
    • With the CCQ adviser, the employer, the companion or mentor, and the participant, implement the Training Plan for Apprenticeships adapted to the company context.
    • Ensure that each party receives the appropriate reference documents and plans (for the employer, companion/mentor, and learner).
  • Step 6: Activate financial support and program follow-up
    • Through the CCQ training adviser, confirm how the financial support from the Fonds de formation des salariés de l’industrie de la construction (FFSIC) will be paid to the company.
    • Maintain communication with the CCQ adviser for ongoing support and follow-up during the program period.
