Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Local community organizations based in Edmonton
  • Not-for-profit organizations
  • Grassroots organizations with a fiscal agent
  • Registered organizations in good standing

Who is not eligible

  • Municipal departments and other government organizations
  • For-profit organizations and enterprises
  • Organizations with overdue or incomplete City of Edmonton grant reporting

Eligible expenses

  • Staffing costs specific to the initiative
  • Honorariums
  • Program and project materials and supplies
  • Printing and communications
  • Training, travel within Edmonton, evaluation, and short-term space rental

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Cultural Events and Festivals
  • Time and labour provided towards preparation of funding applications, including costs for fundraising campaigns and websites for fundraising purposes
  • Capital costs and expenditures above approved operating costs for the program
  • Food and beverage, in excess of 25% of the budget
  • Bank and financing-related charges

Selection criteria

  • Projects that encourage connections between different cultures and generations will be prioritized.
  • Higher priority will be given to projects facilitated by organizations that are BIPOC-led or have partner organizations from other diverse communities involved in development, delivery, and follow-up.
  • Higher priority will also be given to organizations with an operating budget under $250,000 per year and no prior City of Edmonton funding.
