Annual Community Telethon (ACT) Grant Applications for 2026

• Signed declaration by an authorized signatory

Who is eligible?

• Registered charities
• Qualified donees under the Income Tax Act
• BC registered charitable organizations

Who is not eligible

• Organizations that are not qualified donees
• Organizations that are not BC registered charitable organizations
• Organizations not operating in Kitimat or Kitamaat Village

Eligible expenses

• Wages, materials, resources, and equipment for eligible projects or programs

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Core operational expenses
• Costs incurred before the current grant year
• Major construction, major renovations, or building repairs
• Debt repayment, mortgage payments, or deficit coverage
• Endowments, team sponsorships, and sectarian, religious, or political purposes

Eligible geographic areas

• Kitimat, British Columbia
• Kitamaat Village, British Columbia

• Broad public appeal and community accessibility
• Strengthening community self-sufficiency and social structure
• Partnership, collaboration, and local involvement
• Clear purpose for a defined period
• Contribution to community needs and local benefit

• Step 1: Review application guidelines
  • Read the grant guidelines and criteria before preparing the request.
• Step 2: Complete the application package
  • Fill out the official application form.
  • Prepare the budget information and any additional supporting details.
• Step 3: Submit the application
  • Send the completed application by email or by hard copy to the Foundation’s mailing address.
  • Include any required supporting documents and prior expenditure report, if applicable.
• Step 4: Await review and decision
  • The application is reviewed for eligibility and then by the Grants Committee.
  • Applicants are notified in writing of the decision.

• Eligible applications are reviewed by the Grants Committee
• The Board makes the final funding decision
• Applicants are notified in writing of approval or denial
• Funding is disbursed after approval, and recipients may be asked for expenditure documentation

• Participation in the Annual Community Telethon may be considered in evaluation.
• Funding decisions are made annually by the Kitimat Community Foundation Board.
• Applications may be reviewed by a Grants Committee and additional information may be requested.
• Recipients are encouraged to attend the annual fundraising event and AGM.
