- A youth justice committee applying to fund activities not currently funded by the ministry

Eligible expenses
- Staffing salaries/wages and honoraria (e.g. for Elders)
- Staff/volunteer travel (mileage, car rental) and staff/volunteer travel accommodation
- Training and professional development for staff and volunteers
- Professional service (e.g. legal advice/consultation related to the project, accounting/bookkeeping)
- Program administration (e.g. operational costs, rent, internet/phone, office supplies, computers) and program materials to support the delivery of the project (i.e. workbooks, pamphlets, marketing materials, protocol, etc.)
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Capital costs, including land or vehicle purchases and facility renovations
- Legal costs unrelated to the project or arising from liability on behalf of the grant recipient
- Debt repayment
- Donations or subsidies to third parties, financing charges, and interest payments on loans
- Lobbying activities, counselling or treatment programs, flow-through funding, and retroactive expenses incurred prior to the commencement of the grant agreement term date

Selection criteria
- Priority will be given to programs that are actively delivering or ready to implement services, particularly those with a prior history of restorative justice or restorative practices.
- Proposals that are purely conceptual or not yet positioned to serve populations will receive lower priority.
- Consideration will be given to existing RJ programs that are currently receiving referrals from other justice partners.

- Complete the Alberta Restorative Justice Grant Application and the Alberta Restorative Justice Budget Request form.
- Gather your documents.
- Email the application package and all required documents to RJProgram@gov.ab.ca; if you are unable to do so, mail your application package to Alberta Restorative Justice Grant, Community Safety Initiatives (CSI), Justice Supports Branch, 4th floor, 9820-106 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5K 2J6.
Processing and Agreement
- Community Safety Initiatives will contact you to confirm receipt of your application package and documents.
- If you do not hear from them within 10 business days, contact them.
- Successful applicants must submit a final report following the end of the grant term.
- The final report includes statistical data collection and a narrative response.
- A financial report with actual expenditures is required at the end of the grant term, and unused funds must be returned within 60 days of submitting the Actuals Financial Report.
