Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Organizations with projects related to real estate.
  • Education, research, and law reform applicants.
  • Non-profit and other organizations carrying out public-interest projects.

Who is not eligible

  • Individuals.
  • For-profit and commercial ventures.
  • Political or religious activities.
  • Other granting agencies applying for redistribution.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Deficit or debt retirement.
  • Annual fundraising drives and motivational presentations.
  • Activities already substantially completed (retroactive funding).
  • Capital funding for renovations, retrofits, or builds.
  • Other granting agencies for ultimate distribution to agencies or programs of its own choosing.

Selection criteria

  • Alignment with the Foundation’s mandate.
  • Alignment with the Board’s strategic priorities.
  • Addressing an industry-identified need in the public interest.
  • Lasting impact and broad reach.
  • Organizational capacity to manage and complete the project.

How to apply

  • Submit an Expression of Interest through the GoApply portal.
  • Meet with the Grants Team to discuss your initiative.
  • If your project aligns with the Foundation’s mandate, funding programs, priorities, desired impacts, and criteria, you will be invited to complete an application.

Processing and Agreement

  • After review, you receive an email with the funding decision and can check the application status on the Submitted page.
  • If approved, the system generates a series of phases based on the funding type.
  • For Development and Investment Grants, the Funding Agreement / Payment Details Confirmation phase lets you finalize the funding agreement.
  • The Interim Report is completed approximately halfway through the project and triggers interim project payments, if applicable.
  • The Final Report is completed upon project completion and triggers the final project payment.

  • Applications begin with an Expression of Interest.
  • Selected applicants are invited to submit a full application.
  • Grant reporting is managed through the GoApply account.
  • Development Grant decisions cannot be appealed.
