Who is eligible?
- Postdoctoral fellows applying through one of the Applicant institutions, including incoming postdoctoral appointees for Recruitment Fellowships.
Selection criteria
- Applications are assessed for scientific excellence through a competitive process.
- The review results are used to triage applications for Alberta Innovates’ relevancy assessment.
- Only applications deemed relevant to program priority areas and approved by Alberta Innovates can be supported.
How to apply
- Visit the respective post-secondary institution competition pages for institution-specific information.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are assessed for scientific excellence through a competitive process.
- The review may be a university-run fellowship competition, a university-run triaging process for a Tri-Agency competition, or a Tri-Agency-run competition.
- Scientific excellence results are used to triage fellowship applications for Alberta Innovates relevancy assessment.
- Only applications deemed relevant to program priority areas and approved by Alberta Innovates can be supported.

Who is eligible for the Alberta Innovates — Postdoctoral Fellowships program?
To be eligible for the Alberta Innovates — Postdoctoral Fellowships program, you must:
Applicants must have completed a PhD or another relevant doctoral degree at award implementation, with possible case-by-case equivalencies.
Applicants must have a postdoctoral appointment at one of the Applicant institutions; Recruitment Fellowships must start within the first six months of the appointment.
Applicants must not have applied more than once before for a Fellowship from Alberta Innovates.
