- Provincial and federal public sector organizations, except publicly funded post-secondary institutions
- Municipal, provincial and federal governments, including Crown corporations, except community economic development organizations that operate within or adjacent to a municipal government as the local or regional community economic development body
Eligible expenses
- Curriculum development costs, including educational materials, staff wages, travel costs for those developing the training, materials and supplies, and development of virtual training services
- Training delivery costs, including tuition fees or instructional fees, examination fees, mandatory student fees, textbooks, equipment rental, software, digital tools or supplies, trainer replacement wages, travel costs for those delivering the training, and facility rental costs
- Training delivery support costs, including skills assessment, career planning, coaching and mentorship
- Administrative and marketing costs, including project management staff wages, IT systems for tracking and reporting, audited financial report costs up to $15,000, recruiting and selecting trainees, advertising and marketing costs, and training materials
- Capital costs for machinery, tools and equipment necessary for hands-on training
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Costs or fees not associated with direct training, including health care or dental fees and premiums, membership or union fees, subscription fees, WCB fee, child-care costs, annual fees, athletics fees, U-Pass fee and professional association fees
- Financial support for trainees to attend training, including living allowances, wage incentives, completion bonuses, overtime, compensation wages, work placements or practicums
- In-province or out-of-province travel or transportation costs for trainees
- Day-to-day operational costs of running a business, résumé writing, interview skills, job search or other employability services, direct financial incentives for trainees in mentorship or networking, reimbursement for rental of assets already owned, and fees charged by the applicant for use of existing machinery, tools and equipment
- Projects or activities outside Alberta, long-term funding dependencies, duplicated training products or services, apprenticeship training, tuition-based education programs, primary research or planning activities, labour market environmental scans, industry-based workforce plans, and development or expansion of the applicant's regular training products

Selection criteria
- AISG objectives and skills need: identify a workforce challenge, skill shortage or gap and provide evidence to support the need.
- Training solution: explain how the proposed training addresses the identified workforce need, describe the target trainees and training approach, and show the resulting industry-recognized or transferable skills.
- Industry sector value: demonstrate clear industry-wide benefit through transferable skills, recognized training, scalability, replication or application beyond the lead applicant.
- Project outcomes and feasibility: identify measurable outcomes and how success will be tracked, and provide a realistic implementation plan, budget, timeline and risk mitigation approach.
- Partnership quality: clearly define partner roles, responsibilities, financial or in-kind contributions, commitments and deliverables that support project delivery.

- Use the email subject line [Your Organization Name]: AISG Call for Proposal.
- Include the three required attachments: the PDF applicant form, the Excel budget template, and the combined PDF supporting documents.
- Applications must be received by Oct. 30, 2026, at 3 p.m. Alberta Time, and hard copies will not be accepted.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications that pass initial screening are reviewed and assessed by a committee.
- Assessment is based on the overall application package and how well it addresses the project criteria.
- Projects recommended by the committee proceed to final review and approval by the Minister.
- If approved, a Ministry representative contacts the applicant to clarify and finalize information, sign the grant agreement and issue payment(s) according to the agreement.
- Grant recipients must submit complete, timely and accurate reports, including the final report and audited financial statement within 90 days after the project completion end date, and respond to information requests.
