Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Community nonprofit organizations
  • First Nations and Métis Settlements in Alberta
  • Universities, colleges, and institutes
  • Eligible organizations registered under the listed Alberta or federal Acts

Who is not eligible

  • Municipalities
  • For-profit organizations and enterprises
  • Individuals
  • Organizations not registered under the eligible Acts
  • Organizations with overdue or incomplete reporting on previous Alberta Culture funding

Eligible expenses

  • Artist, workshop, and performance fees
  • Event and workshop materials
  • Marketing and communications costs
  • Volunteer expenses, food and beverage, and technology costs
  • Equipment rental and venue rental

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Construction, renovations, repairs, and major equipment purchases
  • Alcohol, cannabis, and related expenses
  • Faith-based or political activities
  • Existing staff wages, personal expenses, and volunteer appreciation events

How to apply

  • Step 1: Review guidelines

  • Step 2: Register in GATE Front Office
    • Create or update your applicant profile.
    • First-time applicants must request login credentials in advance.
  • Step 3: Complete the online application
    • Choose the funding stream and complete all required forms.
    • Upload the requested supporting documents.

    • Review the submission summary and submit through GATE Front Office.
