Eligibility

Who is eligible?

Who is not eligible

  • Applicants not based at an Alberta CARU
  • Applications submitted outside the department level
  • More than one application from the same department

Eligible expenses

  • Personnel costs directly related to research activities
  • Travel and accommodation for conferences, field work, or research collaboration
  • Publication and dissemination costs
  • Software expenses directly tied to research activities
  • Permanent equipment, within the program limit

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Overhead and administrative expenses such as rent and utilities
  • Teaching buyouts or other applicant responsibility buyouts
  • Equipment purchases, rental, or maintenance of computers or phones
  • Legal fees and litigation-related costs
  • Capital expenses, personal expenses, gifts, donations, and non-research activities
