Who is eligible?

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Operating or capital deficits, ongoing operational costs, and retroactive expenses.
  • Endowment campaigns and multi-year commitments.
  • Activities serving primarily religious membership or purposes, political organizations, or advocacy initiatives.

  • First-time applicants may receive priority depending on available resources.
  • The board considers the social and economic barriers facing the individuals served by the organization.
  • The applicant’s history is reviewed.
  • Applications are assessed on merit and available funds.

How to apply

  • Submit the request through the online submission form.
  • Complete all application materials online.

Processing and Agreement

  • Qualified applications are reviewed on merit and in light of the funds available for distribution.
  • The applicant is notified of the application status by email once a decision is made.
  • Approved grants are sent by cheque to the organization.
  • Recipients may be asked to provide a brief report at the completion of the project.
  • The foundation may request proof of performance to confirm that funds were used as approved.

Additional information

  • There are two funding cycles per year: spring and fall.
  • Deadlines are February 15 and September 15; if a deadline falls on a weekend or Canadian civic holiday, it moves to the next business day.
  • Applications are assessed on merit and according to available funds.
  • Multiple applications from the same organization will not be considered within the same granting stream.
