Who is eligible?
- Maple syrup producers.

How to apply
- Use the form provided by the Commission.
- File the application with the Commission not later than the first day of June in the crop year, unless the date is extended by the Commission.
- Include all maple syrup taps operated by the applicant on land owned or used by the applicant.
- If you purchase land after the first day of June in a crop year and an insurable maple tree stand is located on it, you may file for the balance of that crop year without obtaining an extension date; the application must use the Commission form, cover all maple syrup taps used on that land, and be accompanied by the premium determined by the Commission under subsection 11(6).
Processing and Agreement
- Upon acceptance of an application, the Commission issues a certificate of agricultural insurance.
- If the application is accepted, coverage takes effect on the date of the application or the first day of the crop year, whichever is later.
- The Commission may revise an insured taps report and adjust the premium; the insured has ten business days to reject the revision in writing.
- If the parties cannot agree on a revised insured taps report, the Commission may terminate the contract and refund any premium paid for the crop year.
- After a Notice of Loss, the Commission reviews the loss and sends a written decision to pay or refuse an indemnity; if the insured disagrees, they may file a Notice of Dispute within thirty calendar days and may apply for arbitration within ninety calendar days of the final decision after filing proof of loss.
