Selection criteria

  • Projects are assessed on how well they meet the needs of vulnerable groups, including people experiencing homelessness, women and children fleeing domestic violence, Indigenous peoples, people with disabilities, people dealing with mental health and addiction issues, racialized groups, recent immigrants and refugees, veterans, LGBTQ2+, seniors, and young adults.

How to apply

  • Review the eligibility criteria to determine whether your project qualifies.
  • Submit the Application Workbook, along with your project’s architectural plans and third-party construction budget.
  • Your application will be reviewed and evaluated by the Affordable Housing Now team, and you may be asked for further information.
  • The City of Winnipeg will consult with CMHC to confirm priority and eligibility under its programs.
  • If approved, you will receive a Conditional Approval Letter outlining the type and amount of each grant and any conditions of approval.
  • Once National Housing Strategy funding is received and executed, submit proof to trigger the final Grant Agreement with the City of Winnipeg.

  • Applications are reviewed and evaluated by the Affordable Housing Now team.
  • The City of Winnipeg may consult CMHC to confirm priority and eligibility.
  • Approved projects receive a Conditional Approval Letter outlining grant type, amount, and conditions.
