Documents Needed
- A letter by the applicant, no more than two pages in length
- A resume or curriculum vitae, no more than two pages in length
- A detailed description and schedule of the chosen performing arts educational or training program(s), including proof of acceptance if accepted into a specific course or a preferred choice plus two alternate program choices if not accepted
- A scanned copy of one of the following to provide legal proof of age: certificate of birth, driver’s license, passport, or certificate of Canadian citizenship
- A current and signed letter of reference, and a sample submission or audition of performing works

- The merit and appropriateness of the proposed program(s) in the context of the applicant's performing arts goals and interests
- The impact of the proposed program(s) on the artistic development of the applicant
- The applicant's achievements and experience in the performing arts and the performing arts community to date
How to apply
- Submit the application through the GATE Front Office online application system
- First-time applicants must email registrationafa@gov.ab.ca at least five business days before the application deadline to obtain a GATE Front Office username and password, including their legal name, the funding opportunity they are applying to, and their email address
- Complete the online forms and upload the required attachments and support material
- If support material is too large for GATE Front Office, submit it by email as attachments or downloadable links to the relevant scholarship email address, or mail a hard copy CD or USB to 10708 – 105 Ave, Edmonton, AB, T5H 0A1
- Ensure support material is submitted or postmarked no later than 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time on the deadline date, unless the deadline falls on a statutory holiday or a weekend, when it will be extended until the next working day
Processing and Agreement
- Staff convene an expert panel to consider all eligible scholarship applications submitted to each deadline
- The expert panel assesses each application on its own terms and in relation to all other applications received for a given deadline
- Successful recipients are notified upon approval, generally between four to six months from the application deadline
- All applicants, successful and unsuccessful, are notified of the outcome, and no expert panel comments are provided
