- Postdoctoral fellows, research associates, and adjunct faculty as primary applicants
- Postdoctoral fellows and research associates as co-leads
- Government of British Columbia employees as primary applicants or co-leads
- Health Research BC employees and staff as team members

- Supplies, materials, and special services
- Salaries for technical personnel and trainee stipends
- Equipment maintenance or essential equipment purchases
- Knowledge translation, dissemination, and collaboration travel
- PWLE engagement costs, including honoraria, travel, events, and caregiving services

- Independent investigator salaries and consulting fees
- Indirect or overhead costs
- General office or lab equipment and supplies
- Sabbatical, course release, and parental leave costs
- Alcohol and airfare bought with personal points
