Who is eligible?
- Indigenous Peoples or Organizations.

- Abattoirs involved in further processing or value-added projects involving primary producers.
- Agri-Food processing facilities.
- Agri-Food licensed Commercial Kitchens.

- Academic or research institutions.
- Other individuals or groups capable of achieving program objectives.

- Retail food services or grocery stores.
- Restaurants.
- In-home processing.
- Ice Cream parlours.
Eligible expenses
- Equipment cost for processing and packaging for the final value-added product, including pumps, extractors, juice presses, colour sorter, fermenter tanks, conventional ovens, blenders, smokers, peelers, meat-cutting equipment, stainless steel tanks, and more.
- Costs directly related to process efficiency and improvement analysis, including implementing automation, efficient manufacturing processes, and technology review and processing line design for integration of new technology.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Normal and ongoing operation and maintenance costs incurred by the recipient.
- Shipping, freight, or transportation cost fee.
- Lab material, disposable supplies, containers and trays, and bottles that are sold with the product.
- Consultant fees.
- Building infrastructure or purchase; facilities where the retail environment is larger than the processing area; publicly funded facilities; processors of seafood or fish.
Selection criteria
- Projects assessed to demonstrate benefits and impacts to more than one province may be eligible for funding on a regional basis.
