  • Local, district, or national decision-makers as team partners

  • Individuals applying directly
  • United Nations agencies
  • International organizations based in Africa or overseas
  • Organizations headquartered outside Africa
  • Organizations selected as ANSRHRA HPROs

Eligible expenses

  • Proposal-development activities, including team meetings and feasibility analysis
  • Project activities and implementation research costs
  • Travel expenses required for project roles
  • Indirect costs up to the allowed limit
  • Local contributions may be cash or in-kind

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Activities outside the approved SRHR priority areas
  • Applications from organizations that are HPRO lead or consortium members
  • Direct grants to individuals
  • Projects without required country approvals when needed

How to apply

  • Step 1: Register on SurveyMonkey Apply
    • Create an account in the application portal.
    • Review the privacy agreement and eligibility screening.
  • Step 2: Complete the LOI submission
    • Fill in the application form.
    • Prepare and upload the letter of interest.
    • Attach the required supporting documents.
  • Step 3: Submit before the deadline
    • Send the application through the SurveyMonkey Apply portal.
    • Submit by May 13, 2024 at 23:59 ET.
  • Step 4: Await results
    • Wait for the review outcome by email.
    • Successful applicants may be invited to the next stage.

Processing and Agreement

  • LOIs are reviewed by an external scientific review committee
  • Eligible LOIs are scored, ranked, and compared with other applications
  • Successful LOI applicants are invited to submit a full proposal
  • Funding is subject to availability and IDRC approval
  • Selected applicants must sign IDRC standard grant conditions and may need country clearance

Additional information

  • A maximum of two applications may be submitted by the same organization as principal applicant.
  • Only one application can list a person as principal applicant or co-principal applicant.
  • Successful LOI applicants must attend the proposal development workshop.
  • Country approval may be required before the grant is formally approved.
