- Projects that are not student-led
- Projects not related to climate change or sustainability
- More than one project per school
Eligible expenses
- Planting-related materials for food, carbon capture, pollinators, xeriscaping, erosion protection, native species, or Indigenous knowledge projects
- Organic or natural inputs such as compost and manure
- Taxes and shipping on eligible items

- Landscapers and contractors
- Speaker fees and honoraria
- Donations to other organizations
- Travel, including bus transportation
- Large-scale installations such as water bottle refill stations
- Planting for beautification only
- Chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and other chemical inputs
