Overview

The Accessible Technology Program supports the development of assistive technologies to enhance digital accessibility for individuals with disabilities, with eligible projects receiving up to 80% of the costs covered for non-profit and research institutions, and up to 50% for for-profit organizations. Eligible activities include developing, testing, repairing, and promoting assistive technologies.

Financing terms and conditions

  • The program provides co-funding through non-repayable contribution agreements.
  • For not-for-profit organizations or research institutes, the maximum cost-sharing ratio is 80%.
  • For for-profit organizations, the maximum cost-sharing ratio is 50%.
  • Funding is distributed through claims for reimbursement of eligible costs as outlined in the contribution agreement.
  • Eligible in-kind contributions that are detailed in the budget workbook can count towards the cost-sharing ratio, but in-kind costs will not be reimbursed through program contributions.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be a Canadian legal entity in one of the following categories: for-profit organization, not-for-profit organization, or research institute.
  • Applicants must demonstrate their expertise and capacity to manage and/or develop and implement an eligible single project or a combined group of projects in Canada.
  • Applicants must demonstrate that the proposed project or group of projects requires a funding contribution from ISED to achieve the objectives.
  • Applicants must provide their two most recent years of audited financial statements to demonstrate financial viability.
  • For organizations unable to provide audited financial statements, they should consider partnering with other organizations, forming a consortium with a lead applicant, or providing alternative income statements.
