- Indigenous communities in Canada
- Indigenous organizations and associations
- Indigenous councils, corporations, and co-operatives
- Indigenous schools, cultural centres, and land/resource management bodies
- Mandated partner organizations, Indigenous or non-Indigenous
Who is not eligible
- Organizations that are not Indigenous and are not mandated by an eligible recipient
- Projects focused on species listed on Schedule 1 of SARA
- Projects involving scientific research, captive breeding, or hatcheries
- Projects using federal funds as matching contributions
Eligible expenses
- Salaries, wages, and benefits
- Professional fees, consultants, and contractors
- Travel, materials, supplies, and equipment rental
- Equipment purchases under $10,000 and some capital assets
- Communication, printing, training, and overhead costs up to the allowed limit
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Scientific research activities
- Captive breeding, captive rearing, hatcheries, aquaculture, and wildlife rehabilitation
- Extirpated species reintroductions
- Promotional merchandise such as hats or mugs
- Federal funds used as matching contributions
