Who is eligible?

  • Registered non-profit organizations in Saskatchewan
  • First Nations, Tribal Councils, Métis Locals, and municipalities

  • Schools, post-secondary institutions, and libraries
  • Businesses
  • Unincorporated groups and individuals
  • Non-profit associations without an integral First Nations or Métis focus

Eligible expenses

  • Wages, honorariums, and contract fees for cultural resource people and experts
  • Project materials and cultural activity supplies
  • Food and nutrition costs tied to program delivery, in limited cases
  • Facility costs only when extra space is needed
  • Participant travel within Saskatchewan
  • Advertising and promotion costs within the program limit

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Capital costs such as construction, renovations, or repairs
  • Office and administration costs, including rent and utilities for the applicant’s own facilities
  • Salaries and expenses of existing staff
  • Out-of-province travel and related costs for participants or cultural workers
  • Alcohol, prizes, trophies, donations, fundraisers, galas, and banquets

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are first checked for basic eligibility.
  • Eligible applications are reviewed by volunteer community assessors.
  • Funding decisions are issued about 8 to 10 weeks after the deadline.
  • Successful applicants receive approval and must submit a follow-up report after the project.
  • Applications not approved are not appealed or revisited.

  • Applicants are encouraged to contact an Outreach Consultant before submitting.
  • Only one IACL grant can be held at a time.
  • Two different people must sign the application.
  • Late applications will not be considered.
