Who is eligible?
- Child care providers.
Eligible expenses
- Wages and paid time off, benefits at 18% of the wage amount, professional development expenses, and paid hours for eligible full-time employees.
- Snacks, supplies and small equipment, activities, cultural and inclusion materials, and health and safety supplies.
- Wages for staff who do not directly provide care for children, along with licensing fees, professional dues, liability insurance, marketing, communication, legal support, office supplies, bank charges, hiring costs, financial reporting, account and audit services, and mileage for business travel.
- Maintenance and minor repairs, property insurance, janitorial services, garbage removal, utilities, and office furniture and equipment.
- Rent or lease payments, mortgage payments for not-for-profit or Indigenous governing entities, strata fees, and property taxes.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Gifts for staff.
- Fees and costs for providers’ own programming, training or certification, and salary bonuses for staff.
- Unpaid family fees, private loans or debt payments, business meals, entertainment, fundraisers, vehicle rentals, and travel to transport children.
- Capital assets such as large equipment purchases.
- GST on rent or lease and payments, and mortgage payments for corporations, partnerships or sole proprietors.
Processing and Agreement
- Providers must provide regular reports to the ministry.
- Providers must complete a Provider Profile Survey yearly.
- Providers must submit annual financial statements.
- The Verification and Audit Unit may review for administrative errors, overpayments, and compliance with program policies, requirements and obligations.

- Access to an approved $10 a Day ChildCareBC Centre is based on each location’s licensed capacity and waitlist.
- Child care waitlists are managed by individual providers, who can explain how they fill openings.
- Households that earn up to $111,000 may be able to further reduce fees through the Affordable Child Care Benefit.
