Westland Foundation is a charitable foundation founded in 1993 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to improve educational outcomes for youth in the city’s inner neighbourhoods. After early community fundraising initiatives, the organization created the Westland Foundation Education Fund (WFEF), a dedicated scholarship fund that helps students from inner‑Winnipeg schools pursue post‑secondary education. The Foundation partners with RRC Polytech, the University of Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg to apply its scholarships directly to students’ tuition fees.

The WFEF provides performance‑based financial awards calculated from students’ Grade 7–12 marks obtained at designated inner‑Winnipeg schools. Eligible final marks above defined thresholds are converted into a scholarship amount, which is then applied toward first‑year tuition. When resources permit, the Foundation also offers second‑year support at RRC Polytech for students who maintain a strong GPA and continue in their program.

The Foundation targets youth who attended inner‑Winnipeg schools within a clearly defined geographic boundary and from a specific list of elementary, junior and senior high schools. Its objective is to increase graduation rates, reduce barriers to higher education and build a healthier, more educated community. Since 2009, the WFEF has awarded more than 1,260 inner‑Winnipeg students scholarships totalling over $750,000, with dozens of new recipients supported each academic year.

Westland Foundation runs a recurring annual competition, typically opening applications in June for the following academic year. To qualify, students must have completed Grade 12 at an inner‑Winnipeg school within specified years, plan full‑time studies at one of the partner institutions, and submit transcripts demonstrating the required grade thresholds.
