Role in the Funding Ecosystem
We Are The Villagers acts as a direct funder for children from low-income households, providing grants to cover registration fees and equipment costs for extracurricular activities. General Evaluation Criteria
Funding is directed to children from low-income homes who wish to participate in recreational, artistic, and cultural programs. The organization also provides mentoring and counselling services upon request. Priority is given to families demonstrating financial need.

The organization publishes annual reports dating back to 2015/2016, demonstrating accountability. It received the YMCA Peace Medal, recognizing its community impact. As a registered Canadian charity, it is subject to regulatory oversight.
History and Evolution
Founded by Julianna Matyas and Geoffrey Crompton, the organization received charitable status in June 2012. It has grown from serving the Midland area to covering 27 communities across Simcoe County, including Penetanguishene, Tiny, Tay, Barrie, Orillia, Collingwood, and Bradford.
Supported Audiences and Impact
Since inception, the organization has assisted over 630 children. It has created partnerships with municipalities to administer recreation fee assistance programs and collaborates with Canadian Tire's Jumpstart program to maximize reach.
Institutional Partnerships
The organization works with the Town of Penetanguishene, Township of Tiny, and Township of Oro-Medonte to distribute recreation fee assistance. It has also partnered with Canadian Tire Jumpstart and various community organizations.
