Role in the Funding Ecosystem
The Srinarayanathas Foundation is a discretionary charitable foundation that provides philanthropic investments to support charities and organizations working with underrepresented communities. Founded in 2022, it draws on a hundred-year family legacy of giving back and focuses on making transformational, transgenerational impacts.
Funding Areas
The foundation concentrates its philanthropy on four priority pillars: healthcare, education, civic engagement, and creative arts. These areas were chosen based on the founder's lived experiences of immigration and socioeconomic challenges, aiming to address the holistic needs of those who feel invisible, unheard, and marginalised.
2022 Funding Highlights
In 2022, the foundation donated $371,412 to various causes, including $300,000 over three years to Century Initiative, $250,000 to the Tamil Community Centre, $15,000 to St. Paul's High School bursary program, and $10,000 each to four GTA hospitals (Lakeridge Health, Scarborough Health Network, Markham-Stouffville Hospital, and Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital).
Impact and Reach
The foundation has supported over 30 organisations since 2018, including healthcare institutions, educational institutions, autism centres, community organisations, and international development foundations. Recipients include Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation, University of Toronto Scarborough, SAAAC Autism Centre, Urban Alliance on Race Relations, comdu.it Impact Foundation, Muslim Welfare Canada, and Canadian Red Cross.
