Grant and Funding Programs Offered by Les Amis du CCFM inc. (CCFM)

Les Amis du CCFM inc. is an incorporated charitable organization dedicated to supporting the Centre culturel franco-manitobain (CCFM), a key Francophone cultural hub in Manitoba. Its mission is to strengthen the cultural, social and community activities of the CCFM by mobilizing private donations and channeling them into concrete projects and programs. The organization positions itself as a long-term financial partner for Francophone arts, culture and education in the province.

The objectives of Les Amis du CCFM include promoting the CCFM, sponsoring projects, organizing special events aligned with the centre’s mandate, and mobilizing volunteers. Crucially, it explicitly aims to allocate financial resources to qualified donees as defined in section 149.1(1) of Canada’s Income Tax Act, confirming its role as a grantmaking body able to support eligible organizations and initiatives.

To ensure sustained support for the CCFM, Les Amis du CCFM has established an endowment fund in partnership with Francofonds, a recognized Francophone community foundation. Through this fund, donations from individuals, businesses and other organizations are professionally managed and generate long-term income that can be reinvested in artistic, educational and cultural programming at the CCFM.

The group conducts fundraising campaigns, including multi-week drives with defined financial targets, to build the capital of the endowment. An initial leadership gift of $25,000 from the Forest family served as a cornerstone contribution, which the organization sought to match through its first campaign. Over time, these resources are intended to provide stable, recurring support for CCFM initiatives.

Les Amis du CCFM has already contributed to major capital and infrastructure projects at the CCFM, such as the new reception desk and welcome area at 340 Provencher, and the construction of the new Patio 340 outdoor stage inaugurated in 2023. These investments enhance the capacity of the centre to host performances, exhibitions and community events, indirectly benefiting a wide range of artists and cultural organizations.

While Les Amis du CCFM does not operate as a broad public grant program with open calls in many categories, it plays an important discretionary funding role for the Francophone cultural ecosystem in Manitoba. By focusing its support on the CCFM and on qualified donees linked to its mission, it helps sustain year-round programming in performing arts, visual arts, community projects and educational activities in French.

The organization relies on volunteers and members who contribute time and expertise, in addition to financial gifts. Through this combined engagement, Les Amis du CCFM strengthens the vitality of the Franco-Manitoban community, preserves French language and heritage, and creates opportunities for artists, youth and the broader public to access high-quality cultural experiences.
