Grant and Funding Programs Offered by Joyful Living Joyful Giving Foundation (JLJG)

Joyful Living Joyful Giving Foundation operates as a pass-through foundation that collects donations and redistributes them to vetted Canadian registered charities. Unlike traditional grant-making organizations with formal application processes, this foundation identifies charitable causes annually and directs fundraising efforts toward selected beneficiary organizations.

The foundation operates on a unique model where 100% of all donations received are passed directly to charitable organizations, with administrative and operational costs covered by the Olafsen family. This ensures maximum impact for every dollar donated.

From 2018 to 2024, the foundation has distributed $692,191 across 11 different charities through 24 life-giving projects. The foundation supports causes both locally in British Columbia and internationally.

Current focus includes A Rocha Canada's Brooksdale Centre in Surrey, BC, which provides fresh produce, community gardens, and food literacy programs to over 600 children, families, and seniors annually. Past recipients include: Inner Hope, Investing Hope Foundation, Canadian Foodgrains Bank, Blue Sea Philanthropy, The Grove, CCSHF, Wellspring Foundation, Opportunity International Canada, Umoja, TWU Lillian Scott Scholarship, Spartan Foundation, and Ejo Youth Project.

Founded in memory of Ray Olafsen, the foundation is led by family members including Co-Founder Doris Olafsen, President Travis Olafsen, and Treasurer Jesse Mauel. The board also includes other dedicated directors. Annual fundraising events and detailed impact reports demonstrate the foundation's commitment to transparency.
