Grant and Funding Programs Offered by Jonction for Her Foundation (FJPE)

Jonction for Her Foundation (Fondation Jonction pour Elle) is a registered non-profit organization created to provide sustained financial backing to services for women and children experiencing domestic violence in the Lévis region of Québec. The foundation raises funds and channels them primarily to the La Jonction pour Elle shelter in Lévis, which offers free accommodation and support to victims from the MRCs of Lévis, Bellechasse, Lotbinière and Nouvelle-Beauce, and to the Denise Ruel second-stage transition house, which hosts women after their shelter stay at an affordable cost.

The foundation’s specific role is to cover material and financial needs that are not met by government granting bodies and public subsidies. In this sense, it complements existing public funding by financing additional services, equipment, and living conditions that directly improve the safety and quality of life of women and children.

The funding provided by the foundation benefits women and children who are victims of conjugal violence, both during their stay in emergency shelter and throughout their transition toward independent living. By supporting the shelter and the second-stage house, the foundation contributes to emergency housing, psychosocial intervention, follow-up services and access to safe, affordable housing. It also indirectly supports outreach services offered externally, for example via CLSCs in the territory.

Its geographic focus covers several MRCs on the South Shore of Québec City, including Lévis, Chutes-de-la-Chaudière, Bellechasse, Lotbinière and Nouvelle-Beauce. The foundation mobilizes local businesses, institutions and citizens to create a community safety net around these women and children.

The idea of establishing a dedicated foundation emerged as early as 1992, during the 10th anniversary of the Jonction pour Elle shelter, out of repeated concerns about sustainable funding. Initially operating as a fundraising committee, Jonction for Her Foundation was formally created in 2006 and obtained official non-profit status in 2007. Since then, year after year, it has continued to meet the material and financial needs of the shelter’s users and to secure the continuity of services.

To fulfill its mandate, the foundation organizes recurring fundraising campaigns and benefit events, such as annual friend campaigns, tribute donations in memoriam, and cultural or community activities like “Chantons pour Elles”. These initiatives invite individuals, businesses and institutional partners in the four MRCs served to provide financial support. Prestigious partners and corporate sponsors play a visible role, as illustrated in the foundation’s communications and annual reports.

The foundation publishes annual reports that summarize its financial results, activities, and supported initiatives. It is governed by a board of directors and operates within the legal framework for Québec non-profits. Through these mechanisms, Jonction for Her Foundation positions itself as a trusted channel for donors wishing to contribute concretely to the fight against domestic violence and the support of affected women and children.
