Role of Fondation Collège Marie-de-l’Incarnation in the funding ecosystem
The Fondation Collège Marie-de-l’Incarnation is the philanthropic arm of Collège Marie-de-l’Incarnation in Trois-Rivières, Québec. Inspired by the educational work of the Ursulines, it mobilizes donations from alumni, parents, partners and the wider community to finance projects that enhance the school’s learning environment. The Foundation contributes to the improvement of pedagogical services, student life and infrastructures, while also supporting students in need, teachers and school perseverance initiatives.
Rather than offering open public grant calls, the Foundation acts as an internal funder for the College and its community. Funds raised through major campaigns, special events and ongoing giving are allocated to priority projects identified with the institution, such as modernizing facilities, equipping new spaces or strengthening support to vulnerable students.
Key funding themes and supported projects
The “Réalisations” section highlights several recent projects carried out with the Foundation’s financial support: revitalization of the schoolyard, creation of a cinema studio, an innovation space for young people, a culinary laboratory and the refurbishment of the cafeteria. The Foundation has also invested heavily in renewing athletic facilities, including the gymnasium floor, sports branding, and locker rooms, as well as in a large-scale project for a new sports centre.
The major campaign (“campagne majeure”) illustrates another funding axis: capital projects. With a target of 2 million dollars integrated into a 6.5‑million‑dollar investment for a new sports centre, the Foundation leads multi‑year fundraising efforts. Events like La Grande Course du CMI, alumni sports tournaments and partnership initiatives with local organizations generate additional revenues directed to these projects.
Publics served and impact
The primary beneficiaries of the Foundation’s funding are the College’s students, from primary through secondary, along with teaching staff and the broader school community. Investments seek to create an inspiring, modern and inclusive learning and living environment: better sports and recreation spaces, creative and innovative learning zones, and welcoming common areas. The Foundation also states that it supports students in need and encourages school perseverance, suggesting targeted financial assistance or resources for vulnerable learners.
Partnerships and community engagement
The Foundation cultivates close ties with the Association des anciennes et des anciens, whose activities and events help maintain a strong alumni network and generate support for the College. It also establishes partnerships with local organizations, such as farm and service cooperatives, where a share of proceeds from community-based initiatives is directed back to the Foundation. These collaborations reinforce the Foundation’s mission of creating a lasting positive impact within the CMI community and the surrounding neighbourhood.
