Role of the Collège Beaubois Foundation in the funding ecosystem
The Collège Beaubois Foundation is a non-profit organization created to support the educational mission of Collège Beaubois, a private school located in Pierrefonds, Québec. Constituted under Part III of the Quebec Companies Act, the Foundation mobilizes the broader Beaubois community — parents, alumni, staff and external partners — to raise and redistribute funds for projects that enrich student life, improve learning environments and help families in financial difficulty.
The Foundation manages several complementary funding streams. A key pillar is its emergency financial aid program, which helps families facing unforeseen and temporary hardships such as illness, death or job loss. Detailed eligibility criteria, lists of admissible fees (tuition, related fees, technology, infrastructure, music program and school trips) and guidelines for multi‑year support are publicly described. Applications are submitted confidentially through the FAST financial aid platform and are evaluated individually, with the Foundation covering part of the student’s school costs when justified.
In addition to emergency aid, the Foundation allocates scholarships and awards that recognize perseverance, excellence and student engagement. These bourses are sometimes supported by dedicated donors or partner foundations and target domains such as visual arts, entrepreneurship or law. The Foundation’s impact reports and the “EFFET Fondation” section present annual amounts devoted to scholarships and prizes.
Innovation fund and support for educational projects
The Foundation also operates the Fonds d’initiatives innovantes de Beaubois (FIIB), a program directed at members of the school staff. To be eligible, a project must be led by at least two staff members, contribute to innovation or enhancement of an existing activity, align with elements of the school’s 2023‑2027 educational plan and require financial support from the Foundation up to a maximum of $20,000. A specific application form allows teams to propose initiatives, which are then assessed according to these criteria.
Through this and other funding decisions, the Foundation has supported a wide range of projects over recent years: redevelopment of the primary schoolyard, acquisition of scientific equipment for secondary laboratories, expansion of music instrument inventories, creation of musical practice spaces, purchase of soccer goals, development of nautical activities with canoes, and environmental projects such as permaculture gardens. These investments aim to create stimulating, inclusive and sustainable learning environments.
General evaluation and governance
Funding choices are overseen by a board of directors composed of parents, alumni and professionals, supported by a director of the Foundation and staff responsible for philanthropy and communications. The Foundation publishes bylaws and annual or impact reports, which present realized projects, amounts invested and the evolution of its programs. This governance framework ensures transparency and accountability toward donors and the school community.
Supported audiences and overall impact
The primary beneficiaries of the Foundation’s programs are students of Collège Beaubois at the preschool, primary and secondary levels, along with their families and, in the case of the innovation fund, school staff who implement educational projects. By combining emergency financial aid, merit‑based scholarships, project funding and infrastructure investments, the Foundation contributes to equal access to education, student well‑being and the continuous improvement of learning conditions at Collège Beaubois.
