Grant and Funding Programs Offered by Cégep Garneau Foundation

The Cégep Garneau Foundation is a college-based philanthropic organization dedicated to supporting the student community of Cégep Garneau in Québec City. Acting as a financial lever for the institution, it mobilizes donors, partners, alumni and the wider community to fund scholarships, project grants and major infrastructure that improve study conditions and student life. Over more than 30 years, it has distributed over $5,000,000 in scholarships and project subsidies.

The Foundation intervenes on several complementary fronts. Its well-established scholarship program rewards academic excellence, perseverance, talent and student engagement across all programs and sectors of study. Each year, through its various bursary streams, it honours more than a hundred students and distributes close to $125,000 in awards, notably via entrance bursaries at the start of the fall term and the Mérite étudiant bursaries during the winter.

Beyond individual bursaries, the Foundation manages structured grant programs that directly support initiatives from students and staff. The “Guichet unique” program offers a single entry point for project funding requests coming from students and employees, in partnership with the student association, the parents’ association, the campus cooperative, the Cégep’s student affairs directorate and a Desjardins caisse. Together, these partners provide nearly $100,000 annually in project grants designed to enrich training and student life.

The “Programme de soutien à la réussite éducative” specifically targets projects that foster educational success and the overall development of learners. It supports initiatives to develop talents, better prepare students for the labour market, renew and acquire specialized educational equipment, and enhance study spaces and living environments. Clear eligibility criteria, application procedures by email and reporting requirements after project completion frame these financial supports.

The Foundation also finances large-scale, structuring projects for the Cégep Garneau campus. Its achievements include a reinvented library, the creation of the École d’entrepreneuriat de Québec, a multisport field and stadium seating, renovation of the auditorium, modernization of the dental hygiene teaching clinic and the acquisition of scientific equipment. These investments, often involving six- or seven-figure contributions from the Foundation, transform learning spaces and reinforce the quality and visibility of the college’s programs.

Applications to the various programs follow announced calls, deadlines and documentation requirements. Students and staff must submit standardized forms, supporting documents and post-project reports; incomplete applications are rejected. The Foundation publishes regulations, ethics and privacy policies, and risk management guidelines, demonstrating a concern for sound governance and transparent management of donated funds. Through its strategic plan 2025‑2030, it commits to optimizing its scholarship program, updating its grant streams and positioning itself as a partner of choice for structuring projects that benefit Cégep Garneau’s student community.
