Discovering ATC: The Canadian Transportation Association
About the ATC
The Canadian Transportation Association (ATC) is a leading national organization dedicated to the advancement, planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of transportation infrastructure in Canada. ATC brings together professionals, students, and organizations from across the country, promoting excellence and innovation in the transportation sector.
Our Community and Strategic Vision
ATC is supported by a dynamic community of members, including engineers, planners, policymakers, researchers, and students. The organization operates through a variety of councils and committees focused on diverse aspects of transportation and infrastructure, such as safety, mobility, technology, and environmental stewardship. ATC’s strategic plan centers around fostering a strong, diverse workforce and preparing tomorrow’s transportation leaders through education, outreach, and career development opportunities.
The ATC Foundation
The ATC Foundation is a registered charity operating independently from the ATC. Established in 2003, its main objective is to strengthen support for transportation learning, offering scholarships and directing resources to students and young professionals interested in transportation careers. The Foundation aims to expand access to opportunities, not just for university graduates but also high school students and educators, ensuring a robust, future-ready workforce within the industry.
A Vibrant Network of Councils and Committees
ATC’s organizational structure includes a wide network of councils and committees that address key topics: geometric design, road safety, climate change, active transportation, digital innovation, infrastructure asset management, and workforce development. This collaborative framework enables knowledge sharing, professional development, and collective progress on challenges facing the Canadian transportation sector.
Events, Awards, and Recognition
ATC hosts annual congresses, technical meetings, and a variety of events to connect members and foster professional growth. The association also celebrates achievements in transportation through prestigious awards for technical excellence, innovation, environmental leadership, infrastructure development, and recognition of dedicated volunteers.
