Role of Parq in the Funding Ecosystem
Parq serves as the provincial association for regional parks in Quebec, acting as an intermediary between member parks and government funding programs. The organization administers the DOTPR (Programme de développement de l'offre touristique des parques régionaux), a financial assistance program funded by the Quebec Tourism Ministry that helps regional parks develop their tourism offerings.
Eligibility and Accreditation
Accredited member parks gain access to the DOTPR financial assistance program. The accreditation process includes approximately 50 mandatory standards and 20 recommended practices across areas including risk management, visitor safety, sustainable practices, and outdoor activity operations.
Services to Member Parks
Parq provides member parks with customized support, training programs, tools and resources, annual events, and advocacy. The association also facilitates group insurance programs and represents parks in discussions with government decision-makers.
