How to Increase Your Website's Visibility

What is the purpose of a website if it doesn’t have any visitors? Even with a nice website, if no strategy is established to attract people towards it, the click meter will remain in the lower numbers. Thankfully, there are techniques that are easy and accessible to increase a website’s visibility.

Here 3 main factors to know in order to establish a good SEO strategy

We already talked about the importance of having a company website. Now that you have one, your site is but one out of billions of others. In order for it to stand out, you will have to apply certain practices that will help the search engines, which are the main guides directing web traffic, to recognize your website and to suggest it to people by featuring it when they use relevant keywords.

1) The Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy on the website

Organic referencing is, without a doubt, the most important technique to know about as it gives long-term results. We already have an article, What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)/organic referencing? which covers the subject in detail. In a nutshell, the term encompasses different techniques used to optimize a website so that it shows up in the first results on a search engine (Google, Bing, Yahoo, Ecosia, etc.).

In order to do so, the website must meet certain criteria set by the search engines. For example, this can refer to the use of headers, keywords and relevant photos on the pages. Other aspects such as the domain name, the ease of navigation on the pages and the existence of external links leading towards your site are also useful. This information feeds the algorithms of search engines, which are then able to analyze the content.

Writing original articles is also an excellent way to optimize your website, by creating interesting content that will cater to the needs of the visitors. It is important that, when people click on the link to your site, they find what they are looking for. If such is the case, they are more likely to spend time on it and to go visit other pages. Know that these indicators are also taken into account by the search engine algorithms when measuring the relevance of your website.

You can hire specialized companies or freelancers to write the content (see our article What is the price of an SEO-optimized article?) or you can have someone do it in-house.

2) Paid referencing (Google Ads/Adwords) to promote the site

Paid referencing relates to the idea of paying to appear in the first results of a search query. Since Google largely dominates the field of search engines, we are mostly referring to Google Ads. Certain amounts of money have to be allotted for keywords that we wish to target. This marketing option is interesting in the short term but it can end up being expensive, which means that it should be used in conjunction with organic referencing.

3) Social media presence

Social networks are an excellent way to promote your page and to advertise your company. You just need to know how to use them. Since each company is different, it would be advised to consult a specialist to get personalized advice. You can even delegate this task to them if you prefer to do so.

There are different social networks and each one has their own function but in general, the most useful ones are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. Consequently, this is where you should focus your energy. Develop an active Facebook page by sharing articles and interesting tidbits.

Ideally, the links you share will lead towards your website and not someone else’s, to ensure that the traffic is yours. Even then, it is possible to establish a paid advertising strategy by targeting audiences that are concerned by the type of product or service you offer.

Whenever possible, use attractive photos and ask questions to your followers, in order to help you increase the engagement rate on your page. Social media strategies can also be combined with other referencing techniques.

These three examples are the main strategies used to increase the number of visitors on a website. They are accessible to everyone but to implant them properly, you have to have enough knowledge about this subject. If you are able to dedicate time to this task, you can see to it yourself but the workload will be considerable.

Most of the time, it is recommended to hire specialists that will immediately be able to recognize your needs and will implement the steps that need to be taken on to obtain the desired results.
