Silverthaw Consulting Ltd.

Silverthaw Consulting Ltd. was founded by Jason Saunders in 2023 after over 30 years of business and software consulting experience. Jason graduated in 1995 from Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s, Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Arts degree with specialization in English Literature and Political Science.

Soon after, Jason started his career in the family business, Centrac Training and Consulting Inc. in Gander, Newfoundland, under the guidance of his father, Gerald Saunders, and business partner, Harvey Pike. Jason was involved in all aspects of the business, including many of the services provided by Silverthaw Consulting Ltd. today.

Yearning for change, Jason returned to school in 1999 to complete a post graduate diploma in Applied Information Technology from the Graduate Centre of Applied Technology, also in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Upon completion, Jason relocated to his current home in Toronto, Ontario, where he embarked on his current career in sales and technology.

After a short period working as a technical recruiter as part of the Onsite job creation program based in Ottawa ,Ontario, Jason relocated to Toronto, where he started his first official technology role as a Technical Support Engineer, with Certicom Corp. Certicom, later acquired by Blackberry, was focused on implementing Elliptic Curve Cryptography into business applications and Jason’s role worked specifically with the movianVPN and IPsec products.

Half a decade later, in hopes of marrying his technical expertise and previous business management, sales, and consulting experience, Jason decided to concentrate on software sales, and commenced his role as a Business Development Consultant with Oracle Direct in Mississauga. This role was purely demand generation (i.e., cold calling) for the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) team in the Ohio Valley mid-market territory, selling JD Edwards, PeopleSoft, and Oracle e-Business Suite. After 18 months in this role, Jason was promoted to a full sales role, selling the Oracle database and Business Intelligence and Reporting solutions, once again into the Ohio Valley.

Wanting to make a bigger impact within an organization, Jason started his sales role with Toronto startup N4 Systems, selling the mobile device based FieldiD inspection software until shortly before the company was acquired by MasterLock.

Jason’s next endeavour saw him joining SAP Canada, selling the Business Objects business intelligence and reporting tools, such as Web Intelligence (Webi), Desktop Intelligence (Deski), Lumira, Crystal Reports, Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC), etc. into the Large Enterprise Market in the Northeast US territory, primarily New York City. Soon after, Jason and his teammates were redeployed to the Canadian Mid-Market team, selling SAP ERP (ByDesign, ECC6, Suite on Hana).

In order to expand his knowledge, especially on the services side of the software industry, Jason decided to change product lines and market segment, choosing to sell SAP Business One into the small and medium-sized business market with SAP PartnerEdge partners, Forgestik, Vision33, and ultimately N’ware Technologies. Over the next 9 years, Jason worked with hundreds of small and medium-sized businesses across Canada. This role also offered the opportunity to work with dozens of 3rd party partners and software solution providers and to expand his business network. Particular areas of expertise included Warehouse Management (WMS), Accounts Payable Automation, Field Service Management (FSM), Project Management (PM), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Point of Sale (POS), Business Intelligence and Reporting (BI), Payroll and Human Resource Management (HRIS), etc.

Jason currently lives in Toronto, Ontario with his wife Amanda, and daughter, Selena.
