To be eligible for the Web Presence Assistance grant, a business or a local not-for-profit organization must meet the following criteria:
  • Must be located in Prince Edward Island.
  • Not have a website, or is upgrading an existing website to add e-commerce for the first time.

The Web Presence Assistance grant is available to businesses and local not-for-profits located in Prince Edward Island that aim to create an online presence or upgrade their existing website to include e-commerce. However, certain types of businesses, such as fishers, farmers, and financial companies are ineligible.
  • Businesses located in Prince Edward Island.
  • Local not-for-profits based in Prince Edward Island.

There are certain types of companies and industries that are not eligible for the Web Presence Assistance grant in Prince Edward Island. Restrictions mainly relate to the current status and main activities of the company.
  • Applicants with an existing e-commerce website that wish to enhance e-commerce capability.
  • Businesses with a defaulted outstanding debt obligation in the Province’s Central Default Registry.
  • Businesses that received funding from Innovation PEI in the prior two years for website development through Web Presence Assistance.
  • Fishers, farmers, and realty companies (including commercial/residential landlords and developers).
  • Banks and financial companies, including pawnbrokers, payday loan companies, cheque cashing services, and white label cash machines.
  • Applicants in default on any reporting, project completion, or financial obligation to Innovation PEI.

  • Innovation PEI reserves the right to deny a grant application or request for payment if fraudulent intent is suspected or detected.

Step 1: Gather Required Information
  • Full business name and contact information
  • HST number, if applicable
  • Detailed description of the project and its benefits to the business
  • Electronic or scanned copy of a written quote from an arm’s length web developer, or a detailed listing of expenses if creating the site in-house
Step 2: Consult with Innovation PEI Business Development Officer
  • Discuss project suitability and alternative funding if necessary
  • Review the application process and documentation requirements
Step 3: Prepare the Application
  • Complete the application form
  • Ensure all required documentation is attached
Step 4: Submit the Application
  • Apply online, by requesting a printable application form, or by submitting a hard copy application by mail or fax
  • Submit the application before making any financial or legal commitments on the project
Step 5: Receive Acknowledgement
  • Receive confirmation of application receipt within ten business days
  • Get informed if the application is complete or if additional information is needed
Step 6: Await Decision
  • Receive a decision from Innovation PEI within ten to twenty business days after submission
