Overview
This federal grant program funds projects that improve access to legal information and advice services for complainants of workplace sexual harassment and increase public awareness of rights and legal options. Up to $1,000,000 is available per project for Stream 1 (legal advice) and up to $500,000 for Stream 2 (public legal education) over three years. Projects must target vulnerable populations or support employers in implementing training and policies.

Eligibility
- The organization must be a Canadian not-for-profit, legal aid provider, or Indigenous organization.
- The project must address workplace sexual harassment and align with program objectives.
- Applicants must demonstrate experience working with vulnerable populations.
- The project must integrate Gender-Based Analysis Plus and trauma-informed approaches.
- Budget must be reasonable and aligned with proposed activities.

- Bands, Tribal Councils, self-governing First Nations and Inuit
- Public Legal Education and Information organizations
- Provincial and territorial governments and legal aid providers
- Educational institutions (universities and colleges)
- Private sector organizations sponsoring non-profit projects
Who is not eligible
- Organizations without legal services or PLEI capacity
- Organizations without experience working with vulnerable populations
- For-profit activities intended to generate profit
- Projects not aligned with workplace sexual harassment focus

- Personnel costs for legal advice and information services
- Development and dissemination of PLEI materials and resources
- Training and workshop delivery for employees and employers
- Translation services for multilingual resources
- Navigation support services for complainants
- Data collection and management systems
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Projects not related to workplace sexual harassment
- Activities that do not target vulnerable populations or employers
- Projects that do not include GBA Plus or trauma-informed approaches
- Profits-generating activities for private sector organizations

- Projects can be local, regional, provincial, territorial, interprovincial, or national in scope
- Services must be available across each province and territory
- Canada-wide projects eligible for increased funding

- Alignment with call for proposals objectives and clear outcomes
- Knowledge of needs of vulnerable populations and target groups
- Integration of key considerations (GBA Plus, trauma-informed, official languages)
- Reasonable project budgets aligned with proposed activities
- Organizational experience and capacity for delivery
- Evidence of efficient financial management practices

- Review the funding opportunity and determine which stream(s) align with your project
- Identify if your organization is eligible to apply (e.g., non-profit organizations, legal aid providers, Indigenous organizations, etc.)
- Review the key considerations including Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA Plus), trauma-informed approach, and official languages requirements

Register for information sessions
- Attend an information session to learn about the application criteria and process
- Register for an English or French session via Microsoft Teams
- Information sessions were held on July 23, July 24, August 7, and August 8, 2024

- Request the application form by emailing pb-dgp@justice.gc.ca
- Specify which stream you are applying for (Stream 1: Legal Advice and Information or Stream 2: PLEI)
- Each stream requires a separate application

Complete application form
- Complete the application form with project details, objectives, and budget
- Address all assessment criteria including GBA Plus, trauma-informed practice, and official languages
- Define outcomes, indicators, and target populations
- Prepare supporting documents demonstrating organizational capacity and experience

Submit application
- Submit completed application by email to pb-dgp@justice.gc.ca
- Deadline: September 9, 2024, 11:59 PM PST
- Ensure application is complete before submission

Await funding decision
- Wait for funding decision communication via email
- Decisions are expected in Fall/Winter 2024
- If approved, you will be contacted for next steps

Sign funding agreement
- Sign funding agreement with Department of Justice before starting project activities
- Obtain permission from Department of Justice before any public announcement of funding
- Project activities can begin (Winter 2024/25)
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed for eligibility and alignment with program objectives
- Funding decisions communicated by email to applicant contacts
- Expected decisions in Fall/Winter 2024
- Funding agreement required before project activities begin
- Recipients must obtain permission before public announcement of funding
