Who is eligible?
- Ontario Works recipients with dependent children under 18
- Ontario Disability Support Program recipients with primary or shared physical custody of a dependent child or children
Who is not eligible
- Persons not on social assistance in their own right and receiving only Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities financial assistance on behalf of a child
- Persons in receipt of the Extended Health Benefit, the Transition Health Benefit, or the Extended Employment Health Benefit under Ontario Works
- Residents of interval and transition homes whose income support is not calculated under the basic needs and shelter rates tables since they are not maintaining a community residence
- Residents of emergency hostels
- Recipients or spouses receiving the maximum Ontario Child Benefit and National Child Benefit Supplement monthly payments on behalf of a dependent child
Processing and Agreement
- Adequate documentation is on file to support the reduction of budgetary requirements as required.
- When retroactive Ontario Child Benefit and National Child Benefit Supplement payments overlap the period in which TCB was paid, all or part of the TCB may be recovered by reducing budgetary requirements in the following month.
- Budgetary requirements may be reduced for a maximum of three consecutive months or until the TCB has been collected in full, whichever comes first.
- An overpayment can only be created if the recipient is found to have been ineligible for the TCB.
