Who is eligible?
- Ontario Works recipients with dependent children under 18
- Ontario Disability Support Program beneficiaries with dependent children in primary or shared custody situations
Who is not eligible
- People who do not receive social assistance in their own right and receive only assistance for a child under Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities
- Ontario Works recipients of Extended Health Benefits, Transitional Health Benefit, or Employment Related Health Benefits
- People living in transition homes and temporary transition homes whose income support is not calculated using basic needs and shelter rates because they do not maintain a residence in the community
- People living in emergency hostels
- Recipients who receive the maximum monthly Ontario Child Benefit and National Child Benefit Supplement for a dependent child
Processing and Agreement
- Adequate documentation must be on file to support the reduction of budgetary requirements.
- When retroactive Ontario Child Benefit and National Child Benefit Supplement payments overlap the period in which TCB was paid, all or part of the TCB is recovered by reducing budgetary requirements in the following month.
- No overpayments are created as a result of a TCB repayment; an overpayment can only be created if the recipient was ineligible for the TCB.
