  • Certified copy of the abstract from the Registry Office showing the registered owner(s) of the property and all registered encumbrances
  • Copy of the registered deed to the present registered owner(s)
  • Tax certificates showing the Provincial Land Tax has been paid
  • Execution certificates showing there are no outstanding judgements or orders against the present registered owner(s), an up-to-date statement of the outstanding balance of any mortgage or lien registered on the property and confirmation that the mortgage or lien is in good standing, and a copy of any existing survey or sketch of the lands, if available

Eligibility

Who is eligible?

Eligible expenses

  • Tile drainage work

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Harmonized Sales Tax (HST)
  • Costs not related to tile drainage, including removing tree stumps, cleaning up fence lines and land levelling
  • Costs incurred off the applicant’s property
  • Rebates and refunds, including discounts received for volume purchases of tile or for early payment
  • Work performed by an unlicensed contractor or any tile drainage work that does not comply with the Agricultural Tile Drainage Installation Act, 1990

How to apply

  • If the property is located within a municipality, contact the municipality to obtain a tile loan application and submit the completed form to the municipal council before any tile installation begins.
  • If the property is located in an area of the province without municipal organization, contact OMAFA to obtain a tile loan application and submit the completed form to the OMAFA Economic Business Advisor before any tile installation begins.
  • For applications without municipal organization, the farmer and OMAFA review the project, decide on practicality and desirability, prepare a cost estimate and complete the application form.

Processing and Agreement

  • Municipal council considers each tile loan application and approves or denies it.
  • In areas without municipal organization, OMAFA reviews the application and supporting documentation and then approves or rejects it with reasons.
  • Before work begins, the property owner must notify the municipality or OMAFA to arrange an inspection.
  • In municipalities, the council appoints a drainage inspector to inspect the work and file an Inspection and Completion Certificate.
  • In areas without municipal organization, funds cannot be released until both the supplier and customer registrations are completed.
