Who is eligible?
- Property owners undertaking substantial development projects.
- Applicants carrying out redevelopment, rehabilitation, infill, or intensification projects.
Eligible geographic areas
- Township of Centre Wellington, Ontario.
Selection criteria
- Minimum evaluation score under the TIEG Program Evaluation Framework.
- Assessment value and property tax increase.
- Number of rental or affordable rental units created.
- Amount of new commercial, industrial, or agribusiness space created.
- Job creation and multiple CIP goals achieved.
How to apply
- Step 1: Contact Economic Development
- Reach out to the Township’s Economic Development Department for guidance.
- Step 2: Submit application
- Apply through the Township’s process for the Community Improvement Plan.
- Step 3: Build and complete the project
- Carry out the approved project and complete it in accordance with the application.
- Step 4: Township review and annual payment
- Undergo final inspections and evaluation before annual grant payments begin.
Processing and Agreement
- The Township aims to confirm TIEG eligibility within two weeks of receiving a completed application.
- Applicants are notified in writing once eligibility is confirmed.
- Legal Services then prepares the required legal agreements.
- Grant payments are made only after the project is completed, inspected, reassessed by MPAC, and taxes are paid in full.
Additional information
- The grant is paid annually for up to five years after project completion.
- Pre-project municipal taxes are set at the time the application is approved.
- The Township may set a maximum total grant per application, property, or project.
- The grant may be assigned only in connection with a property sale or transfer, and then ends on any later transfer.
