Overview
Support is provided as in-kind train tickets, with no cash funding. It is intended to support Canadian community initiatives, events, fundraising campaigns, and activities aligned with VIA Rail’s partnership pillars.
Activities funded
- Community projects that build ties and strengthen societal benefits
- Initiatives promoting diversity and inclusion
- Activities supporting sustainable mobility or smarter ways to move
- Innovation-focused initiatives with forward-thinking subjects or cutting-edge technologies
- Youth initiatives supporting learning, social involvement, civic responsibility, and leadership
- Canadian heritage initiatives that enrich knowledge of Canada’s culture and history

Documents Needed
Eligibility
- The request must be for an in-kind contribution in the form of train tickets (no monetary contributions).
- The organization must offer visibility or other compensation of equal value.
- The initiative must align with at least one partnership pillar: Community, Diversity and inclusion, Sustainable mobility, Innovation, Youth, or Canadian Heritage.
- The initiative must be a Canadian initiative.

Selection criteria
How to apply
Step 1: Plan timelines
- Ensure the request is prepared at least 60 calendar days before the event.
- Account for the assessment timeline (response at least 30 calendar days before the event).
- Specify the requested in-kind contribution as train tickets.
- Define the visibility or other compensation of equal value to be provided.
- Describe how the initiative aligns with one or more pillars: Community, Diversity and inclusion, Sustainable mobility, Innovation, Youth, or Canadian Heritage.
Processing and Agreement
- The sponsor assesses applications and commits to providing an answer at least 30 calendar days before the event.
Additional information
- Applications must be submitted at least 60 calendar days before the event.
- The sponsor commits to responding at least 30 calendar days before the event with its assessment.
- Support is aligned with the organization’s sustainable development and community engagement objectives.
- Sponsorships and partnerships are limited to Canadian initiatives.
