- Reservists, spouses of deployed reservists, and short-term international interns
- Borrowers with a recognized disability
Eligible expenses
- Disability-related medical, dental, hearing, optical, psychological, and similar care not covered by insurance or public/private programs
- Learning disability supports, readers, assistive devices, and related technology
- Home or vehicle modifications needed to accommodate a disability
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Expenses covered by insurance or by private or public programs
- Cosmetic home or vehicle changes, or regular maintenance
- Credit card debt, student lines of credit, monthly utility costs, commuting costs, and childcare may not qualify as exceptional expenses

- Applications are reviewed after submission through the NSLSC online system or by mail.
