The Property Tax Rebate for Seniors now shows a 31 December 2026 application deadline instead of 31 December 2025, and the rebate calculation and supporting form references have been updated from the 2024 tax year to the 2025 tax year. The Municipal Property Tax Sheet also now points to the 31 December 2026 deadline and the 2026 program period, replacing the prior 2025 references. How to apply
- Complete the application in full.
- Include a municipal property tax bill and receipt showing 2025 taxes paid in full, or a completed Municipal Property Tax Sheet if you do not have a bill.
- If you do not have a bill, contact your municipal government office before applying so it can provide your taxes directly or give you the Municipal Property Tax Sheet.
- Mail the application to Property Tax Rebate for Seniors, Box 283, CRO, Halifax, NS, B3J 2N7, or drop it off at your nearest Access Nova Scotia.
Processing and Agreement
- Rebates are deposited into the bank account registered with CRA if you receive your income tax refund by direct deposit; otherwise, a rebate cheque is mailed.
- Allow 8 to 10 weeks to receive your rebate.
Additional information
- Completing the information exchange consent allows Service Nova Scotia to send you an application automatically next year.
- If you receive this year's rebate, you also qualify for the 2026-27 Heating Assistance Rebate Program and do not need a separate application.
