ODSP payment amount updated
Income support from ODSP now shows a maximum of up to $1,436 a month starting July 1, 2026, up from $1,408. The page also now says section 9.1 of the policy directives covers the Participation Benefit in addition to the employment and training start up benefit and up front child care costs. The updated policy directives page also carries a newer update date.

Eligibility
Who is eligible?
- People who meet all eligibility criteria under the ODSP Act.
Who is not eligible
- A person is not eligible for income support while he/she is detained in a lawful place of confinement.
- A person is not eligible for income support while on temporary absence, parole or probation or serving a conditional sentence and residing in a community residence funded in whole or in part by Correctional Services Canada.
Eligible expenses
- Coverage for the cost of drugs prescribed by an approved health professional that are included in the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) Formulary and purchased from a dispensary.
- Routine eye examinations once every 24 months when not otherwise covered by OHIP.
- New lenses and frames every three years when necessary.
- For children, assistance with the cost of new lenses when there is a change in prescription.
- Eligible costs of a work-related accident or illness suffered by a client in a work/training placement arranged by the service provider, where no Workplace Safety and Insurance coverage is required.
