Overview of the Northern Ontario Development Program — Youth Internships — Private Sector program
Get up to $35,000 to cover up to 50% of the eligible costs of hiring a recent graduate for a full-time position of up to 1 year.
Financing terms and conditions
- Contribution of up to 90% of the eligible costs of salaries and benefits, with a maximum of $35,000 per year for a full-time position.
- Maximum funding duration of 18 months, totaling a possible contribution of $52,500 for the intern's salary and benefits.
- Additional contribution of up to $5,000 for eligible ancillary expenses, including equipment and training.
- Total amount of financial assistance can reach $57,500 per internship, including salaries, benefits, and ancillary expenses.

- Creation of internship positions for young graduates within companies, indigenous organizations, municipalities, or nonprofit organizations located in Northern Ontario.
- Implementation of supervised internship programs offering networking opportunities and professional guidance to youth in Northern Ontario.

Eligibility criteria of the Northern Ontario Development Program — Youth Internships — Private Sector program
- The applicant must be either an Indigenous business or organization (First Nations/Metis/Inuit), a municipality or a municipal organization, or a non-profit organization located in Northern Ontario.
- The organization and the young intern must be located in Northern Ontario.
- A work plan as well as mentoring or supervision arrangements must be in place.
- The organization must demonstrate networking opportunities for the intern and present a plan for maintaining employment after the internship.
- The recruitment, interview, and hiring processes used must be fair and transparent.

Eligible expenses for this grant include:
- Labor costs directly related to the project
- Costs for equipment and materials necessary for project implementation
- Professional services fees for specialized expertise
