Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a not-for-profit organization, Indigenous (First Nation/Métis/Inuit) community or organization, or a municipality or municipal organization.
  • Both the organization and the youth intern must be located in Northern Ontario.
  • The project must include a work plan and mentoring or supervisory arrangements for the intern.
  • The applicant must have a demonstrated post-internship retention plan and provide networking opportunities for the intern.
  • The recruitment, interview, and hiring process for the internship must be fair and transparent.

  • For-profit businesses (as this program is only open to not-for-profit organizations, Indigenous communities/organizations, and municipalities).

Eligible expenses

  • Salary expenses for the youth intern in a full-time position.
  • Employee benefit expenses related to the youth intern.
  • Ancillary costs such as equipment necessary for the intern.
  • Training expenses for the youth intern.
